Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for questions to be raised about his future after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the club's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant support from above,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period like this with outcomes like these.”

He finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
