🔗 Share this article Dribbling King Kudus Continues to Impress Amid Big Hopes Mohammed Kudus has quickly become as Tottenham Hotspur's most influential performer. Since his move from the Hammers this summer for a fee of £55m, the Ghana international has consistently been a bright spark for the Spurs midfield. Currently, with four Premier League assists under his belt, he finally netted his maiden strike by securing the decisive goal during a 2-1 win against Leeds United away at Elland Road. "It was about time, wasn't it? We've got high hopes," stated manager the Spurs boss. "I'm so happy for Mo - he was craving that first goal. He's been our best offensive player up to now. It's clear he appeared more relaxed and fluid." The midfielder's through ball assisted the young forward to score his first goal of the season before Kudus fired into the bottom corner to reclaim Tottenham's advantage once Noah Okafor had equalised for the hosts. "Mohammed Kudus has enjoyed a really good start with Spurs," said former Manchester United and England striker the pundit, who was analyzing on Saturday's Match of the Day. "He already had several assists though he lacked that first goal and now he has it." The player told TNT Sports after the win that he was "waiting" to open his account. "For any forward, it boosts your confidence when you score. This is a step in the right direction," he added. Kudus Stands Out Among Frank's Summer Signings Spurs supported new manager Frank during the summer, spending £181m on Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons, German club forward Mathys Tel, defender Kevin Danso and Kudus. Sources indicated at the time that the midfielder preferred a switch to Tottenham despite multiple elite teams showing interest in the 25-year-old. He pointed to Frank as one of the main reasons in joining Tottenham - a choice that is now paying dividends, particularly with injuries to key creative players leaving them lacking creativity on occasion during the campaign. The midfielder has played almost every minute of Tottenham's league campaign so far, generating 13 opportunities in the league - behind only Manchester City's Grealish (17), Bruno Fernandes (16) and Stach (14). Versus Leeds United, he engaged in 19 duels, winning 10 of them - more than any other player on the pitch. "Tottenham have spent a bit of money and now possess considerable squad depth with plenty of attacking options, but I think Kudus stands as the best of their new signings," stated the former striker. "He has introduced a different aspect to the team, in possession and out of possession." His terrific dribbling ability is unmatched across the Premier League this season, and his agility and creativity render him a perpetual danger in attack. "I like his ball control, keeps hold of it and creates time for teammates to support him further up the pitch," said the pundit. "He's an exciting player, speedy, strong and industrious. Everything about him in the match was outstanding." Former Newcastle United and England striker Alan Shearer remarked: "Most parts of his performance have been brilliant so far, other than scoring goals, but he's off the mark now and that is a good sign. "He proved a genuine danger in the game and looks an excellent signing for Spurs." The Dribbling King Mohammed Kudus completed all six dribble attempts against Leeds United, the best success rate for a Spurs player in a Premier League game after Tanguy Ndombele against Aston Villa back in March 2021 (also 6/6). Kudus has attempted 57 dribble attempts in the league this season, the most in the league (Jeremy Doku second with 39). Of those 57 attempts, 30 have been completed, which is also the best record across the division (Jeremy Doku second with 18). Kudus has created 13 opportunities in the league to date, behind only Grealish (17), Fernandes (16) and Anton Stach (14). Only Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo (both 9) boast more goal involvements in the league this term than Kudus, with five (one goal, four assists), with four of his five involvements occurring versus recently promoted teams.
