Spurs Manager Frank Hails Kudus Scoring Effort as 'Long Overdue' in Spurs Victory at Elland Road

Thomas Frank stated it was "much-needed" for Mohammed Kudus to get on the scoresheet after his effort after the break secured Tottenham a 2-1 win at Leeds. The midfield acquisition had been goalless in nine games but his fortunate strike after halftime sealed an impressive win.

The midfielder also provided the assist for the young forward, who notched his first of the season, but Noah Okafor drew things level for Leeds before Kudus's strike won the game.

"I'm delighted for Mohammed to get his goal and it was long overdue, and It's fantastic for Tel as well," commented the Spurs boss. "The determination he has exhibited as a young player from day one has been remarkable after the disappointment of missing out on the Champions League squad. He works hard in training and was focused today."

Victory moved Tottenham up to second place before the completion of Saturday's other Premier League matches, after they started the day in fifth and continued their impressive start under the new manager, this being their fourth victory under Frank.

Team Transformation

Spurs may have struggled in a similar fixture last season, when they suffered their poorest league season, resulting in Ange Postecoglou's sacking. The North London club have won three out of four away Premier League games this campaign, which is the same number as in their last 13 road matches of last season under the Australian.

"I'm extremely happy with the win," the manager continued. "To build to create any successful team, you need mentality, personality, unity and togetherness regardless of whether you resemble Inter Milan or FC Barcelona. Regardless of the style of play, you need that willingness to do everything to win and I believe we're building that increasingly in the team."

Strong Start

Spurs generated both goals and several clear chances, so of course It's satisfying with the beginning we've made," the manager noted. "The points tally in seven games – equating to 2 points per match – is very good and I'm particularly pleased that in away games we have triumphed three times and drawn one. It's a good start, but we must maintain it."

Leeds Perspective

Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, appeared disappointed as his team lost at home in the Premier League for the initial occasion in since last season. But the manager also found encouragement, especially as Spurs were forced to defend at the conclusion with an excellent stop from Vicario denying the Leeds forward a injury-time goal.

"It's essential that we convert our opportunities and wish the goalkeeper is not the best player, but we could have scored with a few of our chances," Farke said. "Nevertheless, we faced one of the league's best teams and were the more dominant force. That's positive and it's satisfying of how we've developed."

Elland Road faithful were angry at referee Thomas Bramall's officiating, but the manager stated: "It's necessary to be a reserved, I avoid to discuss officiating. I leave it with others to comment on the referee, I discuss what I can influence."
