The President Calls Relatives of Injured National Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Tragic Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

White House Call

The president said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed journalists. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Support

Attendees gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to support policing efforts in the capital.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the individual that instructors hoped for. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the media. “She was kind, considerate and always ready to assist people.”

Memorial plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Government Changes

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and halt granting entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor the governor mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” he told the audience at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
